  1. There are three forges in Arva, Jim Smyth's. Paddy Calder's and John Jones'. None of their fathers were blacksmiths, they only learned the trade from some other smith. Jim Smyth's forge is situated at the bottom of Main Street, Paddy Calder's is on Longford Street, and John Jones' is on Broad Road.
    The forge is a long wide building. The roof is slated. The top of the door is arched and is about five feet high. In the corner there is a
