- Long ago the Landlord lived in Corlesmore House which is now owned by John McKiernan. His name was McFadden. He owned the district which now comprises the townlands of Corlsemore, Mullyambly, and Leam. He has been in the country as long as the oldest inhabitant remembers. He was a good man and the rent was payed willingly. There were no evictions carried out. Both him and his tenants were always on good terms. He divided the land into farms. these farms were not subdivided. The tenants had to pay about twenty seven shillings per acre for their land.
Some of the Landlords who were there before McFadden were not good men. One called Thomas Plunkett was said to be a very bad man. He spent his time drinking and card-playing and bothered little about his tenants. It is said that one night during a cart party a stranger on horse-back rode up to the back door. He entered and joined in a game with others who were playing at the kitchen table. During the(continues on next page)
