Any animal or beast born on this day is supposed to turn out cross and wicked. To safeguard against this the newly born has to be buried alive. This is done by covering the animal with sand or tossing it and putting a sod on its head for some minutes.

A calf was born on this 5th day of June 1938 at Larah House. Next day the calf was tossed and a sod kept on its head for three minutes.
