“The most harmful weeds growing on our farm are the thistle, buchalon, and whin.”
(continued from previous page)'Garlick' is used to cure coughs in people, horses or cattle. It is eaten.
'Hemlock' was used to cure a swelling. It was left on the affected part.
'Broom' was used to cure stoppage of water. It was boiled and given to the sufferer to drink.
Many sufferers were relieved by these herbs.

The most harmless herbs that grow in good land are the "Dandelion", the "Golden Rod" and the "Yarrow".
In bad land we find the "Broom" "the Heather", and "the Dockings". These herbs were used in olden times, for curing certain diseases, among people and animals.
"The Dandelion" leaves were pulled, and boiled, and used by persons suffering from chest troubles, and bronchitis. The "Golden Rod" is boiled and used for kidney troubles. "The Yarrow" can also be boiled,(continues on next page) - Collector
