  1. St Dympna is traditionally connected with this district. She is the patron saint of this Parish of Lavey. The two churches here are called after her. St Dympna in her flight from her pagan father rested at Lavey. Where she rested a holy well sprang up. People suffering from insanity have been cured at this well by drinking the water. She had no monastery here. There are special prayers offered to her
