  1. The name of the man that wrote the Hackler from Groushall was Peter Smith Stravicnabo and he was a farmer. He was born about 1840 and 48 when he died. He was buried in Lavey's old graveyard.
    No stories are told how he got the gift of poetry it, came suddenly. The names of the song's he wrote are "The Hackler from Groushall" "Briney's bat" and "The Calico Land-Lord". The author of the song was a promient Land leaguer and so came under the eye of the R.I.C. Poets did not compete with one and other. He lived during the time of the Land Agitation under C.S. Parnell. He could both read and write and was popular with the people. His songs are not sung so much at present. He was my grandfather
