  1. A man once went to a neighbour's house for the loan of a donkey. The man had several donkeys and they were grazing in the "Monument Field". The man who was in need of the donkey was told to take his choice of the donkeys in the field. He went there & noticed a big black donkey that he considered best suited for the work he had to do. He attempted to catch him, but just then, the big donkey changed into a great ghostly form . The man ran away.
At times the "Monument Ghost" is said to inhabit a near by marl-hole. (swamp)
