  1. In olden times the people were stronger than they are now. There was a man the name of Brady in Ryforth. He could carry a sixteen stone bag of meal in his teeth he could also carry a blacksmiths anvil in his teeth.
    There lived a man named James Maguire in Kiltain. He carried a box of bacon 5 cwts weight from a cart into a shop.
    In Upper Lavey (a) there was a man whose name was John Reilly. He was a great man at pulling tugawar. A horse was traced to him at one time and the horse was not able to pull him.
