  1. Tinkers come to this district fefore the May and November fair as it is conveniently near Cavan. They make tin cans, porengers and mend baths, boilers and other tin articles.
    The women sell the various articles which the men make as well as combs, mirrors ornaments, laces and other odds and ends. They stay about a week and beg food, clothes and money and it is very hard to get rid of them as they are never contented. They usually travel in carts and have a few asses or young colts which they feed on the wayside.
