    The last market day as I marched into town with my colies bonnets and my ribbons hung down.

    The last market day as I marched into town with my calico bonnets and my ribbons hung down.
    I thought that my equal would not be there that day.
    but they wore their red mantles that carried this way.
    Oh Mother, Oh Mother do all you can it might be the means, to get me a man
    There are different colours red white blue
    No matter how coarse if it is red it will do
    When that I get it. The neighbours will stare some
    some will wish me health to wear.
    Others will say what they very well can.
    It is the flag of distress for the want of a man.
