  1. Shops were not very plentiful in olden times, but some country houses used to stock supplies, there is one instance of these country shops about a quarter of a mile outside the town at Drumalee Crossroads. McCaffrey's is the name of the shop and it makes a very good business on a Sunday after Mass because it is the only shop opened, it sells all groceries.
    Money was always given for goods but they were always bartered Shops used to give goods for a day's work done for them. There is a market in Cavan every Tuesday, in the Market Yard
