Written by Bridie Hennessey Corravary Castletara Cavan
Collected from Mrs Hennessey Corravary Castletara Cavan
I heard that Whit Monday is an unlucky day because if you hurt yourself on that day you will never get better.
Saturday is a lucky day because the Blessed Virgin goes to purgatory to relieve the souls on that day.
Tuesday is an unlucky day to open a grave.
Good Friday is a lucky day for planting any vegetable. If you set garlick on Good Friday it will cure colds and sickness
Thursday is a cross day of the year. There are seven months of the year for planting crops namely January February March April October November December.
Saturday is reckoned to be an unlucky day. Saturday's flit is a short sit.
