    In January 1839 there came one of the most terrific wind storms that was ever known in Ireland. There was houses stripped and hay knocked down. In one case there was a house beside Slieve Glagh mountain which the roof was blown off, a blanket was blown off the bed and carried four miles away.
    Laragh chapel was feen fuilt during this time. The roof which was partly on was blown down
