  1. The people long ago had querns for grinding oats and wheat in. It is a large flat stone with a hole in the middle of it. They used to make certain kinds of bread. They used to make oaten bread and they used to bake it in front of the fire. They used to make potatoe bread also. They used to make griddle bread and bake then on a griddle. They used to make boxty bread they used to grate raw potatoes and boiled potatoes also, and four. They used to bake enough bread at a time for one week. They used to wet the bread with water and good butter-milk they had a certain kind of oven for baking them.
