  1. The Local Fairs.
Fairs are held in Belturbet Cavan and many other places in the country. They are held in towns but sometimes the buyers buy cattle in the country.
The fairs are not held on the street but on the "green" as it is called. There are no local traditions of fairs held on hills, castles or forts in the neighbourhood. There used to be a fair in the village of Miltown but there are no fairs held there now.
When an animal is sold the luck penny is given to the buyer. There is no way of calculating it but as a rule a sixpence in the pound is given back. When a bargain is a making the men spit on the hands and many other things.
