  1. About fifty or sixty years ago there was a terrible frost that lasted for seven weeks. The blackbirds died in the bushes, and men carted manure across lakes that were frozen.
    In 1925 there was a terrible wind storm which knocked down trees, houses, ricks of hay and stacks of corn.
    About twenty-five years ago there was a cloud burst in Burren, which s a few miles from Ballyconnell.
    It tore up a big field and flooded the district.
