  1. A man in Ballyconnell has a cure for boils. He has a piece of brown stuff which he holds to a lighted candle and makes it soft. He then puts it down and the boils and in three days they are better.
    Another man has a cure for whooping cough. He takes the person who is ill and puts he (or she) under a donkey three times and it is said that he is very successful.
    It is said that the seventh girl of the family has a cure for mumps.
