    A cross was made fom rushes on St Bridget's Eve.
    This was called '' St. Bridget's Cross.''
    A member of the house-hold (usually the man of the house) went round the house three times with the cross and knocked at the door each time. The people of the house said: '' whose there, '' the third time he knocked.
    The reply was '' St. Bridget.''
