  1. It is said that when The Holy
    Family were fleeing into Egypt
a snow-storm came on and They
sought shelter under a poplar tree.
The Jewish soldiers were on the track
of the Holy Child and the tree trembled
with fear when The Holy Family took
shelter as the tree knew the soldiers
would burn it down for its kindness
    to The Holy Family.
    When The Blessed Virgin saw
the fear of the poplar she moved off
and then the Hazel Tree called to
Them to come under her branches for
shelter. Since that time the hazel
tree have fine strong branches and
leaves and the poplar has poor
branches and leaves that are still
    trembling with fear.
