Saying the hare and fox that run the moor to cross it they may try
But lame Jemmie's "tip" that heads the ditch will make them pass it by.
This song was composed by Charles McGovern - son of Tom "Cathal" McGovern of Béal Bealaigh, Glaugeolin, Co Cavan
It was composed about 20 years ago. The poet is now in America.
There are several other local songs. Some of them were composed by Frank Mac Avitty, Altcrock (still living in Scotland) and James Maguire Gowlan, (dead a short time).
The best known are "John Sheridan's Rick", "Dinah Donohue's Spree".
