  1. Long ago the people believed mostly in herbs for curing diseases. They found those growing out in the fields, and when they brought them in, there were different ways for preparing them for curing different diseases.
    The whooping cough is a disease that generally comes on children when they are young. This is cured by the plant called "Herbane" The leaves of it are boiled in either milk or water, and the duce of it is drank now and again
    A very good cure for Rheumatism is a flower called the "Autumn-brocus" It grows out in the fields in Autumn She cools and seeds are prepared for the treatment of rheumatism
    A sore throat is easily cured by a little green leaf which grows by the side of banks. It is brought in and roasted on the fire with butter, and set on the throat.
