    Local Forges
There are six blacksmiths forges in the parish namely Dan O Reilly's, Paddy Martins, Joe Mac Governs, Peter Burns James Hastings and James Donohoes. Dan O Reilly's forge is situated in the downland of Porturlan along the public road. There is only one fire in it which is up on a high platform.
The bellows is made of wood and leather and a long handle is attached to it. The Anvil is on the middle of the floor. It is on this he leaves the hot iron to shape it in whatever way he wishes. The driller for drilling holes in the iron is also used. He has also pincers, hammers and sledges.
