  1. In this district there are some ancient forts the principal being Darraugh fort. On this fort pagans in Ireland erected a false god which they named Crom Cruagh. They also had twelve idols spread round the district. Pagans came from all over Ireland to worship this false god.
    Saint Patrick came and destroyed and people say that he left the track of his knee in the stone. One day a boy was sent to bring cattle off the fort. He started very early but did not return for three days. He came back and worked as usual, but never mentioned what happened to him.
