    Ive been in my youth, and I counted a lovely dame. Bá é an ainnir é ba ciúire oaír siubhal airíamh ar an bfheár.
    Her cheeks are like the roses that grow in the month of June.
    Is gearr a bheár mé beó má bfhagamra póg ó mó chailin ciun.

    This fair maid whom I am enthralled by has caused me to sigh & moan.
    Níl am ba gchluinim trácht ar an staid bhríg no silim deór.
    You are the only fair one, who can ease my calamity.
    'S go sinteor mé gan creapoíg gur bé an speír bhean seo, gradh mo erside.

    Take pity now my darling, a - been so distressed.
    Smaoinigh gur bé an grád is oul ar bhais is mór truágh bhít.
    Ma brigid tú ar mo phóradh agus mo thógail anois as píar.
    beidh tú ag sileadh deór os cionn mo cómhnair shíos ag loch Mac-Neán.

    Smaoinigh caude air gleás ar dthiocfadh fhéin agus mise i dór.
    you have neither lands nor leases, nor neither have I my dear.
    Má tá eallach fa sleíbte na tréig mar gheall air bríg.

    Ar an gleanntain sléibhe seo a dimrigh ar leár sgriof.
    níor chómhnuigh éinne lé corradh is bhlían.
    breac níor limrigh ar linn go heargcaoin.
    Té cúmhaid agus búaidreadh núair a bairuig an sgeúl.

    Níor chómhnuigh éinne lé corradh is bhlían
    Breac níor leimrigh ar linn go heagcaoin
    Lé cúmhaidh agus búaidreadh, núair a dathruigh an sgeúl.
