  1. Mumps - which is a swelling in the neck, mostly under the ears and round the front part underneath your chin, sometimes occasions great trouble.
    This can be cured at home by any person and in the following manner:-
    Put a halter round the neck of the afflicted one, and lead him or her, as the case may be, three times round the pig sty.
    This must be repeated three times also, and like all other cures on Mondays and Thursdays, after sunrise and before sunset.
