  1. There was once a man who had no one living with him, but his daughter.
One night when the man was away from home, the daughter went to bed, but she was wakened from her sleep by noises in the room. She got out of bed, and went down to the kitchen, but as soon as she came down, all the vessels fell down off the dresser, and were broken.
One of the mugs flew up and hit the lamp and broke the globe. The man then came home. He went and got the police, but they found nothing.
