  1. There are potatoes grown on my father's farm. He plants about an acre of potatoes every year. My father and an other man prepare the ground. The manure is spread first on the crop ground, then the seed is dropped on the manure, and the soil is then turned over the seed, to cover it; then the potatoes are set. When the potato stalks are about six inches high, we mould them; more clay is put over them with a shovel. All the spades are bought in the shop.
    The seed potatoes are cut in halves and there are usually two 'eyes' in each part.
