  1. A piece of bread from a woman who has never changed her name in marriage (That is a woman who gets married to a man with the same sir name as herself) cures the whooping cough.
    If there is a hole in a rock with water in it, this water cures warts.
    If you have a sty on your eye get a thorn off a gooseberry bush and point it to your eye for nine mornings and it will be cured.
    A hairy worm put in a bag and worn around the neck and as the worm decays the chin cough will go away.
    Pileworth roots boiled in milk will cure piles if a wineglass full be taken for nine mornings.
    If a black cat be killed and the blood while still warm be put on the victim it will cure the shingles.
