Hansel Monday is regarded as another of these days supposed to be a successful business day. If the shopkeepers are successful on that day they will make a success the whole year round.
People say it is unlucky to borrow the loan of anything on the first of May.
It is lucky for a foal to be born on the first of May.
It is lucky to drive cows out on the first day of May with a hazel stick.
It is unlucky for chickens to be hatched on the twenty second of June.
It is unlucky for a dog to bark on the ninth of November.
It is unlucky to gather sticks on a Sunday
