- About a quarter of a mile from the town there is a hill called Scully's Hill. In the year 1898 the rebels were beheaded and their heads were rolled down this hill, at the bottom of the hill there is a short lane leading to a field called Long Meadow. There was a house at the entrance of this, occupied by two old Ladies called the Miss Frazers, who were known to have gathered the heads up and buried them in their garden, which they were highly appreciated for by the people. This lane was called after the eldest of them, Polly Frazers Lane.
