  1. The mines worked far hundreds of year It gave employment to (all) the men from all parts of Ireland and to all the man of our district It is the greatest pity in the world that it is not working at the present time
The worked under ground with the light of a tallow candle in the front of their caps or in jam pots The air was not bad under ground until the candles went out The chief minerals mined under ground was sulphur and copper They cobbed the minerals on top of the ground and got the best of it to export They made big pennies out of the copper and they paid the men with them
They also exported large quantities of the copper and sulphur
They carted the minerals to Wicklow and it was shipped chifly for the smelting house at Swansea The mining company received 25/ per ton for it at the quay at Wicklow The miners received 4/6d per ton for raising it and the carriage to Wicklow was 5/ per ton It is about 18 years since it ceased working
