    they were going along the road the boy opened his eyes and was glad to find himself safe in his father's arms. His father carried him until he could not walk another step without a rest so he sat down on a ditch to rest. He wasn't long resting until the same band of yeos came along and shot both of them. That was the poor old man and his son.
    Note:- The tree mentioned in this traditional story, is supposed to be the one of which Padraig Conaire has written as "Ceann na Croice".
    The tree still stands, and though recently denuded of all its branches, it has again sent out shoots and will probably survive the mutilation.
