To appease the Spirit guarding the treasure one party of treasure hunters killed a cock at the mouth of the cave. However this does not seem to have been effective as the cave was never explored thoroughly.

Avoca - Laffin's House at Ballinvalley where a coal black frog of a little more than normal size is said to sit on the hearth each night, and to have been doing so for at least a century. No local explanation.
