    sent up flares to draw attention from the shore , but if so they were not seen,and, owing to the heavy nature of her cargo,she would sink down very quickly , especially as there are always heavy seas about the banks.
    There have been others last in the same place under similar circumstances, but, fortunately it is very seldom that such a sad catastrophe occurs.
