    On St. Stephens day it was caught in the furze.

    It is unlucky to do business with money on Whit Sunday.

  2. The boys dress up on St. Stephen's Day and go out to catch the wren. Then they go from house to house. The words they say are
    The wren the wren the king of all birds
    On St Stephens Day it was caught in the furze
    They go from house to house gathering money. They put on old clothes and go around saying these words. They divide the money they gather among themselves. There are a great many customs connected with Hallow Eve night.
