Local (Cures) Ruins
There are the ruins of an old castle in Macreddin. They are opposite the Cementery. It is so old that no living person remembered it. The horse-men used to bring their horses to drink in a river through, a tunnel which is from the Castle to the river. It goes under the corner of the lower cemetery.
There are also the ruins of a school in Macreddin. My father went to school there. It was closed when the new school was built in Ballycreen in 1894.
The Catholic Church in Macreddin was a thatched Church in former years. It was burned down twice during the Penal times in Ireland. It was re-
