One time there was a man who lived near a Protestant.

Once there was a man who lived near a Protestant. They said which ever of them would die the first he would come back and tell where he was. The Protestant died first and the Catholic went to the Priest and the Priest told him to get a bottle of holy water and when he saw him coming he was to sprinkle the water around him, and when he saw him coming he did what he was told and the Protestant said he was in the bottom pits of hell,
I heard this story from Mr. Tompkins, farmer age 65, Ballinasilogue

One time a man was coming from playing cards in Rathmeigue...

One time a man was coming from playing cards in Rathmeigue and when he was coming home he met a long black man coming in front of him, "Will you play me a game of cards for six pence" said the man, "I will" said the other man, and the two men left down their six pences and they started to play and after a while a card fell on the ground and the man stooped down to take up the card and when he did he saw the cloven foot and he stood up and went home and he came back the next morning and got his sixpence there.
