    Mary Anne she made answer contented I'll be
    In a farmer and tradesman to sit down by me
    My two ewes and lambs are at your command
    If you banish the Cannons all off your land
    She gave him up the two ewes and he drove them down

    I will sell them he said, my debts for to pay
    And after this year I will sell no more hay
    The stock is all sold and the money is spent
    And he holds Mary Anne for the Michaelmas rent.

    The Murphys, and Riellys and Connells also
    That very same night to the wedding did go
    The boys of the village assembled that night
    To blow up old horns it was their delight
    They marched round the house both the front and the rare
    To keep him from beating her it was their care.
