in the rath. He stopped to listen and hearing the music coming towards him he went over to the furze bush. The place was instantly lit up and he saw a number of little men and women dancing. He got such a fright that he fainted, and knew no more until he awoke next morning. This man went home and he said he would never be seen out late at night again. Some people say there are lights to be seen in this rath still.

  2. There was a man one time whose name Matt Byrne. He was popularly known as big Matt. One night he was coming home from a card game that was in Rathdangan at 12 o'clock. He met a number of little men carrying a coffin on their shoulders. They asked Matt to carry the coffin as they were tired so Matt did. The men brought him to Cranareen. Matt went home and he said he would never again go out late at night.
