  1. There is no Saint traditionally connected with this district, but there was a saint in Glendalough named St Kevin and there was a girl named Kathleen and she followed him from Donegal, to Glendalough where he came to live. She tormented him so much that he threw her into the lake. It is said from that time Skylarks never warbled over Glendalough.
    The waters are supposed to have a dark colour since then.
