    25. Sports and Pastimes
    60 years ago there used to be a great horse race held in the town of Wicklow
    Football matches were also held in this district, but nothing definite is known
    There used to be wrestling matches held in the fields on Sunday evenings
    People from surrounding districts used to contest.
    Robert Byrne, of the Paddock (2 miles from Annacarter School) was regarded as a champion wrestler
    Trotting matches were also held 60 years ago, Horses from different counties competed for a prize
