    About 100 yards to the east of Talbotstown Fort, a mound is pointed out in the corner of a field. The local people call it Goodwin's grave.
    Mr Richard Geoghegan of Danesfort, who has a farm bounding that of Mr Doyle's, and who lived in Talbotstown until a few years ago tells me that at times of the year the mark of the outline of the coffin can be clearly seen on this mound. In the spring when the grass is beginning to get green the outline of the coffin is clearly marked.
    Mr Geoghegan says that the story as he heard it from the old people was:
    A certain Mr. Goodwin lived in Talbotstown at one time. He was a peculiar fellow who was very attached to a mare which he owned, and of which he was very proud.
    This Goodwin had a quarrel with a neighbour, Mr Fenton, of Talbotstown. Goodwin, being then a pretty old man and unmarried, Mr Fenton remarked that the would yet see the day when Talbotstown would be without a Goodwin. Goodwin remarked that he never would see Talbotstown without a
