When he was talking to the shoemaker he told him all about the cat.
The shoemaker said that it was not a cat at all that it was a devil.
"When you go home" said the shoemaker "tell him that I said that I could not make a boot for him without seeening him as I would want to know the length of his leg and the width of it and that he would have to come here.
The shoemaker told Wat that he would meet him at the cross-roads with a pack of hounds and when you come to the cross-roads let out the cat and pretend you are at my house.
Bring him that day week and put him in a bag on your back.
When Wat came home he told the cat what the shoemaker said.
The week went by and the morning that he was to go the cat washed himself and prepared himself for the road.
When he was ready Wat said that he would put a nice bed in the bag for him.
Wat trembling with fear told the cat to get into the bag and the cat said. "Take care Wat, there is not a dodge in it. Wat said that he would(continues on next page)- Collector
