Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)and then greased with drying-oil. It was then carded with cards for the purpose.
These cards were similar to two pieces of square wood with two handles and covered all over with wire pegs.
After the wool was carded it was put on the spinning wheel and spun into yarn.
Then it was dyed according to the colour the person needed, and allowed to dry. After it had dried it was ready for knitting purposes, such as socks, jumpers, gloves etc.
This industry of spinning wool in this locality has now died out.
- The principal industry around here is the quarrying of granite at Ballyknocken.
These quarries are working at least 150 years, and even as far back as 1803 there was some fine work was done by the men working at these quarries. The date on Valleymount Church is 1803 and a visit to this Church will show that some splen-(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Bailitheoir
