- Some hundreds of years ago, there were treasures supposed to be hidden in rocks and on hillsides.
There was a barrel of gold hidden on a moor called the Old Chapels which is situated in Carriga Curra.
It was hidden by a robber called Cock-a-Hoof. This robber got his name by a habit he had of turning the shoes of his horse backwards to set his persuers astray.
It is said that two men went there to dig in the place where it was hidden, and when they were coming near it a storm arose and swept clay into the hole.
They had been digging there for sometime, but the attempt was not successful.
It is said that it is guarded by fairies who raise a storm when anyone is trying to disturb it.
It is said that if you went and dig there at twelve o clock at night you would get it.
