  1. 1 A Boil
    A piece of shoemaker's wax applied to a boil will draw it and cure it.
    2 A Wart
    Wet it with one's fasting spittle for nine consecutive mornings.
    3 A Toothache
    Wash the mouth well with cold spring water.
    4 A Sty on the eye
    Take a thorn off a goosberry bush and prick the sty with it.
    5 A Headache
    Dip a piece of cloth in cold vinegar, homemade if possible, and tie it around the head.
    6. A Sprain
    The person (should) who has a sprained ankle or wrist should sit beside a pump, fountain or spring and let the water flow on to the sprain. He or she should stay there until the affected part becomes numb and continue this treatment for about a week.
