    reaching down along their backs, and little walking sticks in their hands. She could not see their trousers, shoes, or stockings because of the ditch. Miss Whittle was 16 years old at that time. She thought they were gentry stopping at Mr Cathrew. Her mother knew well they were fairies she saw, not gentry, but never told her for years after afraid she would frighten her. When you catch a leipreachán you should keep looking at him or he would dissappear.

    His grousers green, his jacket red,
