  1. Mrs Whelan, my own grandmother, was taken off the Rustyduff road.
    She was housekeeper for Hoares, who had a factory in Knocknamunion. She was on her way from Hoare's to Derrynamuck, where we lived. She said herself afterwards, that something like a horse with tackling, shook himself in the ditch, and she knew nothing more. She thought she passed beautiful houses, big hotels etc.
    She found herself at the bridge in Ballineddin at eleven o'clock at night, and had to go back the very same road to her home.
