  1. Many are the local fairs that are held nowadays.
There is a local fair held in Dunlavin in every month of the year. They are usually held in the town.
Nowadays buyers often transact business in the country or sometimes at a crossroads or farmer's houses.
About fifteen years ago there was a local fair held annually at Rathsallagh a district one mile from Dunlavin.
It lasted for one day. There was toll to be paid on cattle and sheep before entering in to this fair. A penny for a sheep and two pence for cattle.
This was collected and given to the owner of the Fair Green.
