    like a horseshoe. The smiths shoe horses and ases. I never heard of the smiths making any nails or railing,
    Longago the smiths used to shoe cattle that would have worn hooves walking to fairs and could not be sold.
    There is a big wide fireplace in the forge which is not to be seen in any other house

  2. The blacksmiths in this parish whom I know of are Owen Higgins Mr Nolan and Michael Kelly. Michael Kelly's forge is situated on the side of the road about two miles from Dunlavin. The forge is square
