    Longago the smiths used to shoe cattle that would have worn hooves walking to fairs and could not be sold.
    There is a big wide fireplace in the forge which is not to be seen in any other house

    The blacksmiths in this parish whom I know of are Owen Higgins Mr Nolan and Michael Kelly. Michael Kelly's forge is situated on the side of the road about two miles from Dunlavin. The forge is square
